Job Description - Teacher

This position is responsible for all aspects of the grade, section, or courses which are assigned by the principal.  This position is responsible for the academic curriculum and student development of every student in his/her class(es).  Teachers are responsible for classroom management, student and parent communication, and assessment and evaluation of every student in his/her class(es).

Reports to:        The Principal

Responsibilities:    Include, but are not limited to, the following delineated tasks:

Catholic Faith and Spiritual Development:

  • Models a moral code consistent with the Roman Catholic Church and the charism of the Sisters of Mercy Community;
  • Promotes and models the School’s philosophy, objectives, policies, and regulations reflected in the Mission Statement; is involved in maintaining the Catholic identity of the School.

Academic Development:

  • Implements the academic program for his/her assignment;
  • Assesses and evaluates all student learning;
  • Communicates to information regarding his/her students’ academic progress to the parents;
  • Serves on ICCS committees.

Student Development:

  • Implements and evaluates successful strategies for student growth and development in the classroom;
  • Maintains an optimum learning environment through successful classroom management skills.

Legal/Board/Liaison Development:

  • Maintains professional licensure;
  • Works in coordination with the principal on special assignments as needed.
