Welcome to the 2011-2012 School Year!

Hello!  My name is Kate Hall, and I am the librarian at ICCS for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. I look forward to having a great year with you and your children at ICCS!  Please feel free to email me at kate.hall@ic.cdom.org or call me at 901-435-5288 to arrange a visit or to express concerns.

Parents are always welcome! If you would like to participate in your child’s library class by reading a book or sharing your experiences, please let me know.

Checkout

Children in pre-K-1st grade may check out one book at a time; students in 2nd-12th grade may check out two books at a time. While we do not charge library fines for overdue books, books are due on the day the child’s library class meets each week.  Students who have books over 30 days past due will have their grades held in Power School until the books are paid for or returned.  Please assist your child in returning books on time.

High school students may check out books for two weeks at a time.

About the Classes

Library classes vary from week to week and according to grade level, from read-alouds, participation stories, puppet making, and Readers Theater for the younger students to author studies and emulations, group projects, computer research, and library games for the older students.  Students will also be given the opportunity to take Accelerated Reader quizzes during open circulation time.  If you would like to see what your child will be doing in the library each week, please visit the My Classes folder on this page.

Conduct Grades

PreK-8th grade students are given two grades per quarter for library class. One is for participation, including effort and work habits, and the other is for conduct.  Students are asked to adhere to the following Library READER Rules:

Respect others by using a soft voice.

Enter and exit the library quietly.

Always take care of our books.

Don’t forget to behave safely.

Eating and chewing gum are not

   allowed.

Remember to keep books in proper

   place.

Students are also asked to adhere to general school-wide rules such as refraining from talking while the teacher is talking, maintaining respect for fellow students, and following directions the first time they are given.

If students fail to follow these or any other instructions, their conduct grades will be affected as follows:

E-0 checks

G-1-2 checks

S-3-4 checks

N-5-6 checks

U-7+ checks

Students will receive a check if, after they are given a warning regarding their behavior, they are asked to sign the Discipline Book.
