General Sr. Kindergarten Information

2011-2012

**Lunch information for the year:

Sodexho will be providing warm lunches for any child wishing to purchase one.  Children are also free to bring their lunch from home - candy and canned drinks are not allowed. 

Milk may be purchased for $1 .

Kindergarten will eat from 10:45-11:15.  Recess is from 11:15-11:45.

**P.E. Information

Kindergarten will have class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 

Please send your child dressed for P.E. on that day so that he or she may participate in the activities for the day.  WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE LABEL ALL OF YOUR CHILD’S CLOTHING!

**Mass

Fridays will be scheduled Mass day.  The kindergarten will attend Mass regularly with the rest of the school beginning in January.             

**Snack Information

Each month a calendar will be sent home indicating which day your child will be responsible for bringing snack for the entire class (15 students). 

We encourage you to plan a nutritious snack.  Some examples that have been successful with the children in the past are: popcorn, peanut butter or cheese crackers, granola bars, graham crackers, etc.  A snack bag will be sent home with your child to remind you that your child’s snack day is the next day.  If the snack bag fails to make it home with your child, but your name is on the calendar, please still send the snack.  I will provide snack for the first week of school. 

**Change of Clothes

Please bring one extra change of clothes for your child to keep in his/her cubby.  PLEASE LABEL ALL CLOTHING!

**Morning Arrival and Afternoon Dismissal

Sr. K students will go to the cafeteria until 7:45am.  At 7:45am a specialty teacher will escort the children to the classroom from the cafeteria.  You may drop your child off in the horseshoe anytime between 7:30am-8:00am.  I will close the door at 8:00am.  If you arrive after 8:00am, you must get a tardy slip from the office.    

Sr. K students will dismiss at 3:00pm in the horseshoe. 

WE WILL DISMISS AT 2:00PM EVERY THURSDAY.

**Birthdays

If your child’s birthday falls within the school year, we will assign that particular day as ‘his or her’ snack day.  You may send a special snack (cupcakes, cookies, etc.) on that day.  We ask that the treat be in individual portions as a whole cake requires cutting, plates, forks, etc.  Birthday parties are not allowed at school. 

**Homework Folders

Homework folders will be in your child’s backpack each day containing correspondence, homework due, and activities completed earlier in the day.  Every attempt should be made to review and return this homework the following day.  Should you have correspondence for me, please like-wise return in your child’s folder. 

**Field Trips and Other Events

Throughout the year, there are many activities planned that require parental help.  We will try to notify you as far in advance as possible about such events so that you can make plans to participate. 

**Report Cards and Conferences

The Sr. Kindergarten report card used throughout the Diocese is issued every nine weeks.  There will be a required conference time of all Kindergarten parents in October.  After the initial conference, others may be requested as needed.

**Parent Volunteers

If you are available to come to our classroom to share a story, help with an art project, or participate in a party, you are more than welcome.  It makes the children feel special when his/her parent is part of our class.
